SUMMARY:Camp Hot-to-Clot
DESCRIPTION:WPBDF is proud to help support Camp Hot-to-Clot\, which is organized by the Hemophilia Center of Western PA. \nCamp Hot-to-Clot is an overnight summer camp in Western Pennsylvania for youth aged 7-17\, who have a bleeding disorder or who have a sibling with a bleeding disorder\, and who live in Western Pennsylvania or the surrounding area. Fun activities such as swimming\, pickleball\, gaga\, rock wall climbing\, fishing\, canoeing\, archery\, arts & crafts\, and field games are offered in a safe\, nurturing environment that gives campers a chance to broaden their experiences. \nCamp Facility\n\nCamp Hot-to-Clot is held annually at the YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee near Zelienople\, PA (approximately 30 miles north of Pittsburgh). Camp Kon-O-Kwee is located on 500 acres of fields and woodlands along Connoquenessing Creek. It is owned and operated by YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh and is accredited by the American Camp Association. \nCamp Hot-to-Clot is staffed with professionals from the bleeding disorders community (including staff from the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania who specialize in nursing\, physical therapy\, and social work) and professional camp staff from Camp Kon-O-Kwee. Camp Hot-to-Clot staff works closely with Camp Kon-O-Kwee staff to provide a camp session that is safe\, educational\, and fun! \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact Information\n\nCamp Hot-to-Clot is organized by the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania. Bleeding disorders are a chronic condition and whether the diagnosis is mild or taking a medication that has kiddos present as milder\, it’s important for them to understand and be reminded why it’s important to be mindful of their own bleeding disorder or siblings bleeding disorder as well as finding empowerment in their awareness. Kathaleen Schnur\, LCSW\, from the Hemophilia Center of Western PA\, will guide a discussion with the children (ages 7-12) on respecting bleeding disorders. \nMuseum Admission: We will meet in one of the party rooms in the Children’s Museum; however\, admission to both the Children’s Museum and Museum Lab is included\, and you are welcome to spend the remainder of the day enjoying the museums. DESCRIPTION:The Western Pennsylvania Bleeding Disorders Foundation’s Education Weekend benefits patients and their families living with hemophilia\, von Willebrand Disease\, and other rare bleeding disorders. All ages are welcome!\nWhen: November 5-6\, 2022 \nWhere: Seven Springs Mountain Resort\n777 Waterwheel Dr.\, Seven Springs\, PA 15622 \nProgram Information: \nThe weekend will include sessions for adults with bleeding disorders and parents of children with bleeding disorders. Special programs and activities are provided for children ages 5-18 and daycare is provided for children ages 0-4. \nSessions include: \n\nControlling Bleeding — The basic and the new\nInfusion Training\nMental Health\nResearch Panel Discussion\nSocial Activities\n\nFun\, educational sessions and activities will be provided for children\, based on age group. Activities may include bowling\, indoor mini-golf\, scavenger hunt\, and game room. Two special pre-conference programs will be offered for Friday evening\, November 4: Teen & Parent and New Parent Network. Invitations for those programs will be sent to eligible members. \n\nThe weekend includes:\n1 or 2 Night Hotel Stay\nMeals and Snacks\nEducation Sessions for Adults\nSupervision\, Education Sessions\, and Activities for Children\nDaycare for Infants and Preschoolers\n\nThe only cost to attend this event is a $25 non-refundable registration fee\, per family (due at time of registration). If the $25 registration fee and/or cost of transportation would present a hardship that would prevent you from attending\, you may apply for a scholarship. \nRegistration is limited to immediate family members living in the household with the person who has a bleeding disorder. \n \n“I’m the mom of an eight-year-old boy with Severe Type A Hemophilia\, and I’m also a carrier of Hemophilia. I’m excited to learn more about treatment options for bleeding disorders. I’m also looking forward to connecting with other bleeding disorder families.” – Kelly \nHotel Rooms and Meals: \nFriday\, November 4 – A hotel room will be provided ONLY for those who qualify and will be participating in the pre-conference Teen & Parent program or New Parent Network program\, and for those who live more than 100 miles from Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Meals and child supervision on Friday night will only be provided for families that are participating in a program that evening. \nSaturday\, November 5 – A hotel room\, meals\, education sessions\, children’s programs\, and childcare will be provided for all registered families. Event begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday. \nSunday\, November 6 – Breakfast\, education sessions\, optional infusion training\, and child supervision will be provided for all registered families. Event will conclude around noon. \n \n“I was diagnosed at the age of 63 with Hemophilia B after hemorrhaging after a tooth extraction. DESCRIPTION:NHF is thrilled to announce that the 74th Annual Bleeding Disorders Conference (BDC) will take place from August 25 to 27\, 2022\, in Houston\, Texas. After two years of uncertainty\, we are excited to gather our community in person! \nFor those that cannot join us in Houston\, we will also be offering a virtual component. A total of 28 hours of selected sessions from the Consumer\, Teen\, and Chapter tracks will be live-streamed. These sessions will also be available on-demand immediately after the live broadcast.
