DESCRIPTION:What is it?\nCamp Hot-to-Clot is a free overnight summer camp in Western Pennsylvania for youth who have a bleeding disorder or a sibling with a bleeding disorder. \nWhen is it?\nJuly 27-August 1\, 2025 \nWhere is it?\nCamp Hot-to-Clot is held at Camp Kon-o-Kwee (a YMCA facility) located at 126 Nagel Road Fombell\, PA 16123. \nWho is it for?\nCamp is for youth ages 7-17 years old with a bleeding disorder\, as well as their siblings in the same age range. \nWhat happens there?\nWe have a traditional summer camp experience\, complete with archery\, basketball\, canoeing\, creative arts\, fishing\, gaga\, soccer\, swimming\, and more! We also focus on meeting peers also impacted by bleeding disorders\, building relationships in the bleeding disorder community\, learning more about bleeding disorders\, and becoming more independent in managing medical needs and life in general. Gather with other individuals and families living with bleeding disorders\, from across the state of Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. Hear from experts in the bleeding disorders field and learn more about your or your loved one’s bleeding disorder; meet others and grow your peer network; visit vendor booths and learn about the latest treatments and services. \nThe Conference Includes: \n\nEducation Sessions for Adults\nSupervision\, Education Sessions\, and Activities for Children\nDaycare for Infants and Young Children\nMeals and Snacks During the Conference\n2-Night Hotel Accommodations\n\nProgram & Activities:  \nThe weekend will include sessions for adults with bleeding disorders and parents of children with bleeding disorders. Fun\, educational sessions and activities will be provided for children\, based on age group. Daycare will be provided for children ages 0-6. \nProgram Topics Include: \n\nAging and Bleeding Disorders\nWomen with Bleeding Disorders\nTreatment for Men with Mild Diagnoses\nPediatric to Adult Clinic Transition\nChildren and Pain\nHemophilia\, Von Willebrand Disease\, Rare Factor Deficiencies\, Platelet Disorders\, Bleeding of Unknown Cause\nAnd more!\n\nThe conference will begin the evening of Friday\, May 16 and conclude by noon on Sunday\, May 18. An optional\, pre-conference program for Advocacy Ambassadors will be offered on Friday afternoon. \nAll registered persons are expected to participate in meal programs and education sessions for the duration of the conference. Children will be enrolled in programs and activities\, based on age. \nThe schedule is as follows:* \nFriday\, May 16 – Check-in for PABDC will begin at 4:00 pm and the Opening Session and dinner will begin at 6:00 pm. An optional pre-conference program for those interested in becoming an Advocacy Ambassador\, will begin at 1:00 pm. \nSaturday\, May 17 – Breakfast will begin at 7:30 am\, followed by education sessions. Lunch will be included. A reception with light appetizers will take place from 5:00-6:30 pm. After the reception\, you will be free to enjoy the resort on your own. Dinner will be on your own. \nSunday\, May 18 – Breakfast will begin at 7:30 am\, followed by program sessions. The event will conclude by noon. Please send your decorated canvas back to the Foundation by Friday\, April 11\, 2025. Our goal is to showcase the completed project on World Hemophilia Day\, April 17\, 2025. \nAll the canvas squares will be shared on social media on April 14. Community members are encouraged to vote on their favorite ones! In addition to his TV appearances Sam was recently featured on All Def Digital’s Comedy Originals. DESCRIPTION:Bullying has become a major public health issue\, and it often starts at a very young age. Through a creative process we will discuss this topic and you will be able to address questions\, feelings\, and concerns you might have. You will receive helpful tips on how to navigate difficult situations and come up with creative solutions for creating a safe environment. This program will be presented by Kathaleen Schnur\, LCSW\, from the Hemophilia Center of Western PA. \nThis event is specifically for children aged 7-12 who either have a bleeding disorder or are the sibling of someone with a bleeding disorder. Immediate family members living in the household are welcome. Childcare for younger siblings may be available in a separate room\, during the program. Siblings who are interested and able to sit quietly through a class are welcome to participate in the program with their brother/sister; otherwise\, we encourage use of childcare provided. \nTickets to the Science Center will be included for you and your family to enjoy the Science Center after the program! SUMMARY:Camp Hot-to-Clot
DESCRIPTION:WPBDF is proud to help support Camp Hot-to-Clot\, which is organized by the Hemophilia Center of Western PA. \nCamp Hot-to-Clot is an overnight summer camp in Western Pennsylvania for youth aged 7-17\, who have a bleeding disorder or who have a sibling with a bleeding disorder\, and who live in Western Pennsylvania or the surrounding area. Fun activities such as swimming\, pickleball\, gaga\, rock wall climbing\, fishing\, canoeing\, archery\, arts & crafts\, and field games are offered in a safe\, nurturing environment that gives campers a chance to broaden their experiences. \nCamp Facility\n\nCamp Hot-to-Clot is held annually at the YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee near Zelienople\, PA (approximately 30 miles north of Pittsburgh). Camp Kon-O-Kwee is located on 500 acres of fields and woodlands along Connoquenessing Creek. It is owned and operated by YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh and is accredited by the American Camp Association. \nCamp Hot-to-Clot is staffed with professionals from the bleeding disorders community (including staff from the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania who specialize in nursing\, physical therapy\, and social work) and professional camp staff from Camp Kon-O-Kwee. Camp Hot-to-Clot staff works closely with Camp Kon-O-Kwee staff to provide a camp session that is safe\, educational\, and fun! \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact Information\n\nCamp Hot-to-Clot is organized by the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania.
