Fun, educational sessions and activities will be provided for children, based on age group. Activities may include bowling, indoor mini-golf, scavenger hunts, and game room. We are excited to announce that this year, Education Weekend will begin on Friday, April 26, for all registered participants!
The only cost to attend this event is a $50 non-refundable registration fee, per family (due at time of registration). If the $50 registration fee and/or cost of transportation would present a hardship that would prevent you from attending, you may apply for a scholarship.
Registration is limited to immediate family members living in the household with the person who has a bleeding disorder.
“Our son, Zhi, was recently diagnosed with Hemophilia A and we were naive of what that diagnosis meant for his future. Education Weekend provided our family with the opportunity to educate ourselves about his bleeding disorder. We were able to talk with doctors, nurses and other families who have children living with the same condition and that helped us tremendously. One of the most satisfying things that came out of this weekend for us was that Zhi had a better understanding of his bleeding disorder and was no longer scared about his diagnosis. He was able to interact with other children with the same or similar condition, and has made so many new friends.”
A hotel room, meals, education sessions, children’s programs, and childcare will be provided for all registered families during the weekend.
Friday, April 26 – Check-in for Education Weekend will begin at 6:00 pm and the Opening Session will begin at 7:00 pm.
Saturday, April 27 – Breakfast will begin at 8:00 am. Programs and activities will begin at 9:00 am. After dinner, you will be free to enjoy the resort on your own.
Sunday, April 28 – Breakfast will begin at 8:00 AM. Programs, activities, and optional infusion training will begin at 9:00 am. The event will conclude by 12:30 pm.
“Hello! I have two children, Lennox and Scarlett, ages 8 and 6. I was diagnosed with von Willebrand disease when I was a small child. Currently, I am the only one in my family to be diagnosed with a bleeding/clotting disorder. At Education Weekend, I enjoy all the opportunities to connect with others in the community. My favorite activity last year was axe throwing! This year, I am looking forward to all the learning options there will be. The presentations are always informative and I always leave with more knowledge than I arrived with. Also, the food is always good!”
“Our family has had the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from Education Weekend by attending workshops, networking with other families, and learning more about treatments for von Willebrand disease and the platelet disorders that run in our family. We are most excited to continue networking with other families affected by various bleeding disorders at the upcoming conference.”
Please note: Any family that has registered for and no-showed this event in the past or has no-showed multiple events in the last 18 months (without a medical reason) may be placed on a waiting list.
